Honolulu Marathon Volunteer Event

November 29, 2011 -

The Honolulu Marathon committee has asked for volunteers to help with the Honolulu Marathon Start Line. We will be assisting with various tasks, including (but not limited to):

- Staging the runners (holding ropes and banners and answering questions)
- Park security (which involves marshaling runners into the Ala Moana staging area)
- Assisting with the buses and traffic flow along the Beach Road or Atkinson / Ala Moana intersection.

Date:  Sunday, December 11th, 2011
Meeting place: Ala Moana Shopping Center, Makai Ewa corner next the Christmas tree sales area.
Meeting time: Please report by approximately 1 a.m.
Marathon start time: 5:00 a.m.
Parking: Parking pass for the mall level is located at http://homepage.mac.com/guyinaba/marathon/
Attire:  Kokua Crew T-shirts will be provided.

Kent Walther: Kent Mori Walther is an Associate at BlackSand Capital, LLC, a Hawaii-based real estate investment firm founded in 2010 by principals from Kobayashi Group and The MacNaughton Group, two of Hawaii’s premier real estate development and investment companies.  He is a member of the firm’s acquisitions and asset management team and is responsible for investment underwriting, economic and demographic analysis, and general financial modeling for BlackSand. Kent holds an MBA degree focused on finance and real estate from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Harvard University.

Catherine Toth: Born and raised on Oahu, Catherine E. Toth has been chronicling her adventures in her blog, The Daily Dish (www.thecatdish.com), for six years. She worked as a newspaper reporter in Hawaii for 10 years and continues to freelance — in between teaching journalism full time at Kapiolani Community College, hitting the surf and eating everything in sight — for national and local print and online publications.

Toby Tamaye: Toby is President of AT Marketing, a Hawaii-based firm experienced in advertising, public relations, event marketing, and social-media marketing for Hawaii residents and its tourism markets. Toby also develops a variety of events from evening business mixers to major street block parties. He is a 2009 class member of Pacific Business News Forty Under 40 business professionals.  Toby is a sophisticated user of social networking and is ranked in the top 25 in the World as the most influencial PR and travel consultants on Twitter.

Kalihi Christmas Parade

The Kalihi Business Administration has asked for our participation in their annual Kalihi Christmas Parade.

We will be assisting the 59th Cherry Blossom Court in decorating the vehicle in which they will be riding and asking for volunteers to hold our banner and walk alongside the court. Please feel free to invite your family and friends as well!

MEETING PLACE: Kalihi Union Church Parking Lot (Kalihi Union Church — 2214 North King Street)

THOSE DECORATING THE VEHICLE: please arrive by 5:00pm.

THOSE WALKING IN THE PARADE: please arrive by 5:30pm.

PARADE START TIME: 6:30 p.m. at Kalihi Union Church — 2214 North King Street

PARADE END TIME: 8:00 p.m. at Kamehameha Shopping Center — 1620 North School Street

ROUTE: Please refer to map.

PARKING: Since the parade ends at the Kamehameha Shopping Center, you may want to park your car there and find a way to Kalihi Union Church prior to the parade.

ATTIRE: For a uniform look, we ask that all volunteers wear their HJJCC shirts.
